Sir, do you take this man to be your lawful wedded husband? Queenstown gay pair tie the know. Peter Dickson reports EAST LONDON - Two Eastern Cape men have been married in Queenstown in what is believed to be the first formal gay wedding in the province. First reported yesterday, the June 26 ceremony followed a romance that began at a gay party in Port Elizabeth between city businessman and former nurse Mongameli Zabo, 41, and gay rights campaigner Siyabulela Tabata, 26, founder of the 150-strong Gays and Lesbians Organisation of Queenstown. Tabata, who ventured from the closet in 1992, said only two sisters and his grandmother had attended the ceremony at his home, which had split the family. He appealed to the people of Queenstown to accept the marriage.
