Lip Café for girls Sunday evening just for Pretoria lesbians Sunday nights will never be the same again because on Sunday 28 March at 19h00 there will be a happening at 50 Rose Street, Riviera in Pretoria. And for a mere R5 you'll get live music as well. And because only a few will be interested in food there will be a limited menue, say the organisers. LIP Café, as it has been named, is to fill the emptiness on the lesbian diary in Gauteng, because, explains Meryke, there are so few happenings for women. You may remember the Uthingo Women's Group previously very succesful "What's Up Gay Girls?" party. They intend making this event as much fun. The all-women evening at a local restaurant is intended to become a monthly event. LIP Café takes its inspiration from WOW bar in London, Saarein in Amsterdam and the Frauenlakalen in Berlin. The acronym LIP stands for Lesbians in Pretoria. And because some object to the word "lesbian" the new term should please all. "The LIP Café has no labels and no socio-political agenda. It is a purely social event to provide a place and atmosphere for the variety of gay girls around," say the organisers. For more information contact Meryke at 012 329 6448.
