Black Lesbian and Gay Conference set for Altanta The 12th Annual leadership meeting will set out an agenda for the new millenium WASHINGTON, DC, December 12, 1998 "Lesbian and gay black leaders from across the country [United States] will meet to discuss the role our community will play in the new millennium," said Willa Taylor, chair of the NBLGLF board of directors. "I'm particularly excited about the Policy and Empowerment Institute. Not only will participants gain valuable skills and learn more about the new initiatives the Forum is launching, but through small group work, people will end the day with a workable action plan for their home communities." The Policy and Empowerment Institute is designed to promote community growth. The Literature Institute gathers writers, literature scholars and readers for an exploration of the black lesbian and gay tradition. The Health and Wellness Institute concentrates on promoting sound health practices and updates on research and treatment. The final two days of the conference consist of workshops providing education, skills building and personal development. Early registration deadline is Dec. 15. Guaranteed registration deadline is Jan. 21. The cut-off date for hotel reservations in the Westin Atlanta North at Perimeter Mall is Jan. 21. NBLGLF is the only national organization dedicated to empowering the nation's 2.5 million black lesbians and gays. Founded in 1988, the Forum has thousands of members nationwide.
