The magic Kingdom of Thailand
You would think you are in the Seychelles or Mauritius, but the beaches are more perfect, the people are gentle and the food divine
Thailand is still one of the few affordable countries left in the world, especially for South Africans, and the deal is so good for the gay traveller, you simply can't miss out on a trip to the islands.
Thailand is very special in many important ways: they have managed to never be colonised and their culture destroyed by the Europeans, homosexuality has never been illegal and the people are extremely gentle. Small wonder, because 95% of the citizenry is Buddhist.
It also appears that just about everybody is able to cook a pretty damn good meal. Another reason Thailand is special is their government is actively preserving their natural resources in the form of ecologically sensible tourism.
The country has different climates and different scenery, depending on where you are, but the most breathtaking must be in and around Phuket and Phi Phi, the islands in the Andaman Bay. The landscape consists mainly of limestone, and over the last 150 million years water has dissolved most of it leaving behind caverns and caves with with dripping stalactites.
The hollowed out mountains have created mangrove swamps which you can see from a canoe, and as you paddle through these wonders of nature you will be struck by the strange beauty.
You will have noticed how everything happens on the water. There are long boats that are used as taxis you can rent by the hour, or for the whole day for very reasonable rates.
The capital city of Bangkok is very interesting, especially for shopping and for checking out the gay clubs. It is worth going to, but the islands will probably do more for your in terms of having an unforgettable holiday. Some of the bars are for picking out escorts, like this one. And they can be fun, if you plan on making it an erotic holiday.
Should you want somebody to show you around it is a good idea to enlist the help of one of the boys. Their rates are very reasonable and you are likely to see places (gay and straight) that you would not normally see. Totally sensual, totally divine and totally enjoyable, Thailand has it all.
