Muldersdrift, Gauteng
Brief introduction.
uldersdrift made history in 1896 when Dr Jameson was arrested as a prisoner of war just after the failed Jameson Raid. The attempt to capture Johannesburg from the Boers was insitgated by Cecil John Rhodes whose hopes of politican offices were destroyed by the stunt.
Muldersdrift lies at foot of the southern slopes of the Witwatersberg. It is still a peri-urban area with small holdings, farms and plots and makes for a great country drive. The Aloe Ridge Game Reserve is just off the R47 and you could see some white rhino, buffalo, hippo and the many antelope that used to roam the area.
The R563 which is just to the north of the reserve will take you to the gay nudist reserve, Voëlkop, just north of the Magaliesberg, while the Ni4 which joins the R563 will take you to Bellgables Country Restaurant and Dusk Till Dawn Country Lodge.
