Togs to bid for hosting Gay Games meeting

The local organisation for gay sports has announced they are forwarding a proposal to host the world event's annual meeting in South Africa.

ogs, the Johannesburg-based organisation for gay and lesbian sports has announced their intentions to bid for hosting the Federation of Gay Games annual meeting in South Africa in 2001.

The Federation organises the four-yearly Gay Games event.

Although the Federation's meeting is held annually, every four years the meeting Federation selects the host of a future Games event.

Togs is submitting a bid jointly with Peter Stols from Munlin Travel. Stols has previously been involved in the Johannesburg 2004 Olympic Games Bid.

He has also been instrumental in the design and construction of the Johannesburg Athletics Stadium and was closely involved in the planning and reception of the International Olympic Bidding Committee.

Other cities interested in bidding are Bangkok (Thailand), Johannesburg, Oakland (USA) and Paris (France).
